Mini Diagnostics in Telford
BMW underneath — diagnosed with BMW's own ISTA software. We cover the full Mini range — diagnostics, module coding, key programming and electrical repair — using ISTA / ISTA-P and a wider network of specialist tooling.
Models We Cover
We work on the full Mini range, from everyday hatchbacks to commercial and performance models:
Dealer-Level Tooling
ISTA / ISTA-P
We use ISTA / ISTA-P — the same diagnostic software a Mini dealer uses — plus a network of other specialist tools. That means we can read, code and program every module on the car, not just read a generic fault code.
Common Mini Faults
Minis are well engineered, but every marque has its known weaknesses. The faults we see most often on Mini include:
- Timing-chain rattle and related engine warning codes (common on earlier N47-based engines)
- Electric power steering (EPS) warnings or heavy steering
- CAS key-recognition and starting faults — shared with the BMW platform
- FRM footwell-module failures affecting windows, lights and locking
- Variant coding errors after a module has been swapped without proper programming
- Stop-start and battery-management warnings after a battery change without registration
How We Diagnose Minis
The difference between a scan and a diagnosis is what you do with the data. On a Mini we work through it properly:
- Mini runs on BMW diagnostic architecture, so we use ISTA — the same tool a BMW dealer uses — not a generic scanner.
- We follow the factory test plan for each code rather than swapping parts on a hunch.
- Module replacement includes correct variant coding so the new part integrates with the car.
- Battery registration is carried out so the energy-management system recognises the new battery.
